It's like the part up to and including the bass note was made for the teaser video of the test pressing and then the real song starts. It sounds really good from :28 onwards, though.

There's the dog. You can't fake that stuff. Confess with your mouth.

I don’t know it might just be me but sounds like the tempo gets just a tiny bit faster for the remainder of the song around the 3 and a half minute mark.

Sounds that way to me as well. Which makes me love it even more.

I just wish that the guitars were a bit more ferocious on this song

Not sure if anyone posted it, but I was just reading a brief Josh Evans interview from that Italian PJ fansite and he mentions Mike playing e-bow on this. That's got to be what's happening in that first lead break we thought was synth.

The bass note reminds of Idles "Collosus," which opens that album the same way, with a similar big, filthy bass note. We know Jeff is an Idles fan, so I suspect it's intentional.

I'm hearing something like a sustainer pedal, which has a similar sound to an e-bow to my ears. I can't imagine where else is in that song there's an e-bow.

That IDLES record is the best rock album I've heard in the last five years. Actually, both of their albums and their live record are all fantastic. Cool to hear Jeff likes them too.

I love them. I think Jeff had their live album as his #1 album of 2019.

whatever that sound is, it makes the song feel "BoBed" in those few seconds to me, so I don't like it too much; that said, I'm happy that it sits back in the mix more on the FLAC because the guitars are a little more upfront, so I'm getting used to it

I think you can hear it very faintly on the section around 3:05
