SBWMs intro makes it sound throwaway? But when it builds up a head of steam it’s a stonker but I wouldn’t have put it track 2. Somewhere in the back half like supersonic was

Well, everyone has talked about gigaton here for the best and worst reasons, by the way.
In these 29 years that have passed, 11 albums and so many concerts played, I think that all fans have the right to say what goes on in their soul. I like it that way, I don't like it that way, this song is similar to that one, that one with that one and so on. I think it's perfectly stupid to make analogies regarding gigaton and all the other albums. They are all completely different, recorded and produced at different times, with a completely different spirit and what goes on inside their homes only they know. We always discussed the same thing at the end of each album, they could have tried harder, Ed's lyrics are never perfect for anyone and we are always waiting for the next album to be perfect. But here I leave the question, what will be a perfect pearl jam album?
I can't describe what a perfect album is for me, and I've been an unconditional fan for many years, but I also tell you, I'm always waiting for it to arrive.
As for gigaton, I have read many criticisms of those musicologists who write in specialized magazines and general magazines, but forgive me many of them say a lot of shit. They do not know what they are writing, why they are writing (someone sent them) and many of them do not even know music, and there are also those who have never liked pearl jam, but have to write and from these we cannot expect great positive reviews .
Don't be so negative in relation to the band and its capabilities, for me gigaton is an excellent album, due to its musicality and lyrical side, as many have already mentioned, it combines with the tragic time that we are going through and after waiting so many years for a new album I've heard it so many times and still haven't got tired.
Continue with your discussions in the forum are always a good reason for reflection.
Hug,
HL.

Looks like this will be debuting at #3 on Billboard 200 behind The Weeknd and 500 Seconds of Summer

Having spent a few days on this album, I think this is my view now. I'm very happy with the record. I honestly didn't think they had something like this in them anymore. But any comparison to the holy Ten -> Riot Act stretch fails massively. And that's not even a bad thing.

Whoever Said
Dance
7 o'clock
Retrograde
River Cross

probably my favourites for now.

Very much looking forward to the (any minute now going to be cancelled) Euro tour.

I hadn't thought of it this way. Fair point.

My version of Gigaton is 9 songs long. It keeps the same order of songs but omits "Superblood Wolfmoon" (which I think is bad) "Comes Then Goes" (which I think is boring) and "Retrograde" (which I think is not good enough to justify its place on the tracklist).

The resulting album is 41 minutes long and a lot more focused, consistent and concise.

SuperBlood Wolfmoon went from meh to really fucking fun for me. I really like all the turns the song have and the tasty solo.

My version of the album keeps the same order too, but just dumps the last two songs. "Retrograde" and "River Cross" both feel like consolidations of modern PJ's weaknesses to me, and send the album off in a way that is too similar to "Yellow Moon" > "Future Days" for my liking. I like the idea of "Comes Then Goes" ending this very nuanced and meticulously-produced album on a kind of unassuming, solitary rumination.

Not all of the remaining 10 are perfect, but the program of them does play through pretty satisfyingly.

I've wondered if River Cross might be used as a show opener.

I hope they use it as a closer. But it might be an opener yeah, i think Ed used it as a opener in his shows.

Comes then Goes has never felt boring to me, which surprises me for a six minute acoustic song. I think it flows perfectly and I’m always taken aback by how quickly it flies by.

i think the slow opener from gigaton will be alright. similar feel as pendulum. i dont think river cross works as a pj opener. its almost too slow, and not much band participation. i dont see all 5 guys coming out and eddie sitting behind a pump organ to start the show. its a 1st encore song.

River cross is a touching song. The last minute continues to give me goose bumps but personally I think if Eddie and the music were to fade and the choir keeps singing for an extra minute or as I like the organ breakdown at the end because it reminds me of something akin to the Beatles let the song close like that and then a reprise/ fade in to the choir singing the chorus for another half minute. Maybe I’m crazy, thoughts?
