Re: R1: Truly Madly Deeply v Abracadabra
I first heard "Abracadabra" from the Sugar Ray cover, which sounds exactly like the original but with DJ scratches. I like this song, it's goofy.
The Savage Garden song transported me immediately to my childhood, because that song was EVERYWHERE when I was a kid. I remember the girls in my class putting together a choreography to it for the school talent show. It's so fucking corny. The beat is pure mid-late 90s "spa pop," and that Spanish guitar solo sticks out like a sore thumb.
Haha look at the single cover art

"Abracadabra" takes this one easily

I've never heard Abracadabra before, but it easily gets my vote here over that awful Savage Garden song, which I feel like I still hear all the time. It came out when I was in high school and it was just everywhere.

Re: R1: Truly Madly Deeply v Abracadabra
These saccharine 90s love songs and R&B tunes have not aged well at all (not that this one was ever good).
Easy choice in favor of the 80s.

I generally hate Steve Miller's work, but I'll take this song over that Savage Garden track.

Re: R1: Truly Madly Deeply v Abracadabra
Both are pretty bad but the savage garden song is offensively boring.
