The Bends, Ok Computer, Amnesiac, and In Rainbows are all better than Kid A. Maybe even Moon Shaped Pool. MAYBE.

I mostly agree with Spenno, but I do like OKC, too. For me, Pablo Honey and The Bends don't really exist. Radiohead weren't really very good at being a '90s rock band. They always sounded like they were just jumping on a fad, mainly at the behest of their label.

I like it a lot but it's probably not better than Kid A. It's just that there are days when I'd rather listen to it. But that's different.Monkey_Driven wrote:For sure, except I didn't really care for Moon Shaped Pool.durdencommatyler wrote:The Bends, Ok Computer, Amnesiac, and In Rainbows are all better than Kid A. Those top four are all time brilliant classics. Fucking perfect records.
The next three move a lot for me. Sometimes I put HTTT above Kid A. These are really good but flawed albums that have wonderful highs. How much I like them depends a lot on my mood and our environment. Moon Shaped Pool, for example, is an amazing subway/walking around NYC album but I don't always find I want to put it on at home.
The bottom two are uneven with only a couple of songs on either that I have any desire to listen to anymore. I mostly don't think about either of those as full albums until they come up in a thread like this.

i'm not suggesting that amsp is bad. because it's not. it's just terribly uneven and falls off a cliff after ful stop.durdencommatyler wrote:I can't begin to wrap my head around this, Chris. And I'm sure that shocks you.Chris_H_2 wrote:The King of Limbs >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>A Moon Shaped Pool
tkol gets a very bad rap in my opinion. i think people are way too quick to dismiss it.
and tkol has one of my favorite radiohead songs of all time on it: separator

There are a couple of great songs on TKOL. But as an album it just doesn't work for me. I've tried many many times to revisit the thing and it never opens up for me.Chris_H_2 wrote:i'm not suggesting that amsp is bad. because it's not. it's just terribly uneven and falls off a cliff after ful stop.durdencommatyler wrote:I can't begin to wrap my head around this, Chris. so the main thing that jumps out at me from your list is your ranking of amnesiac so much higher than kid a. considering they came out of the same recording sessions, and that kid a is more "accessible," i'm curious what it is about amnesiac to you that you find so much more appealing than kid a.durdencommatyler wrote: Sure, I'll play:

Re: The everyone LOVES radiohead thread!
It's utterly brilliant and heartbreaking. The album seems to tell a full story, it feels fully realized. Every song is great. It's heady without losing any of the visceral feeling and it's moody without being weighed down. There isn't a bad song on the record. I love all of them so much that I couldn't even pick a favorite. The flow is perfect. The production is perfect. The whole thing feels like it has just always existed, like it's inevitable and always.Chris_H_2 wrote:so the main thing that jumps out at me from your list is your ranking of amnesiac so much higher than kid a. considering they came out of the same recording sessions, and that kid a is more "accessible," i'm curious what it is about amnesiac to you that you find so much more appealing than kid a.
I've never thought of Kid A as particularly accessible, let alone more accessible than Amnesiac.
