Holy FUCK this movie looks SPECTACULAR in UHD. This is the kind of transfer that reminds me why I love the format. Some of the best HDR I’ve ever seen.

This is good to hear. Makes me hopeful for the eventual release of the whole saga in the format, though I'm sure they will screw it up.

I’m in the minority, but I don’t mind the special editions. But if the UHD transfer is poor for all the six-seven first episodes that’s a real missed opportunity.

I think The Last Jedi looks stunning in UHD, happy to hear this one is the same.

That was a controversial HDR grade; supposedly Johnson isn’t a fan of the format, so the HDR enhancements are very subtle. Not so much in TROS - specular highlights everywhere!

"Disney’s 4K disc presentation obviously includes all the latest tweaks and changes seen in the Disney+ version, but the image quality is superior in every respect. (Note that the 20th Century Fox logo remains intact.) The average datarate is in the 60-70 Mbps range (vs 15-25 Mbps via streaming) and that extra bandwidth makes a huge difference."

This is what Bill Hunt had to say about The Force Awakens on 4k UHD Blu Ray:

"The resulting 4K image is terrific. Detail is clean and a notable step up from the Blu-ray, with only a bit of anamorphic softness here and there. Fine textures of metal, costume fabric, and the sands of Jakku are quite pleasing. But the real showstopper here is the color enhancement offered by 10-bit HDR! They’re not only noticeably richer, they’re more nuanced as well. Shadows are deeper and blacker, while the highlights have a very nice added pop that’s just shy of eye-reactive (peak brightness is set at 1000 nits, per the disc’s metadata). The disc’s average datarate is in the region of 50-60 Mbps (with much higher peaks), so it bests the Disney+ presentation (of 15-25 Mbps) by a significant margin with more vibrant colors and noticeably improved dimensionality. This is a great looking film-sourced 4K image."

I watched the TFA 4K stream a while back. It looked good (though nowhere near as good as TROS). The movie did not improve for me, unfortunately. I also tried TLJ again and I couldn’t even make it to the end of that shit.

One of the SW pods got an interview with him for FIFTEEN MINUTES. I can’t wait to hear it. He just doesn’t do SW press not junkets and especially not pods.
To the best of my knowledge none of the cast are allowed on SW pods but maybe that embargo has lifted? I’d say they’re all blue in the face talking about it but to get Driver??
