I had a whole other paragraph I typed out and deleted in that post, I should've left it in.

Anyway, the song and production are just fantastic. Minimalist, precise, weird, ominous. Everything works, not a second is wasted.

Many Queen songs are grating and annoying, this one is perfect.

I'm with you, I'm voting for Queen here. It seems like a simple song and it is ubiquitous and easy to use ironically or comedically...so I get why people would say it isn't great.

I voted for Billie Jean but I do actually think AOBTD is underrated. It's problem (like many pop songs) is its ubiquity.

Oddly enough, the same words you used could also describe Billie Jean: minimalist, precise, weird, ominous.

Easy vote for Billie Jean
I like it partly because it's such an anthem.

Billie Jean is pretty good but I always found the subject matter weird and offputting, especially from Michael Jackson. Even as a kid I couldn't imagine MJ ever touching a vagina, much less impregnating anyone.

Maybe AOBTD has some particular US-centric cultural associations I'm missing out on.

I think of We Will Rock You as being a "sports" song, as well as being kind of annoying, but not AOBTD.

I would definitely vote for Billie Jean over many other songs in this.

They usually play AOBTD after the home team has already trounced the visitors. So it's kind of adding insult to injury.

I don't know about its sports usage, I just think the song is tremendously boring and repetitive, especially when compared to something like "Billie Jean"

I don't think it would be better if it were less repetitive.

And Snowball is the final authority.
