Haven't loved a PJ song this much in a very, very long time.

This song would be a highlight on any of their albums. It really is that good.

Re: Quick Escape
Every single time I hear this song I am floored by the intensity level it achieves. In the last few albums, it seems whenever there is a suspenseful buildup in a Pearl Jam song, it doesn't really explode the way it could in their early years. This song does it twice, upping the ante considerably for the final mission to Mars.

Re: Quick Escape
Solid rocker, different from those lazy WWS / Fixer style wannabe upbeat rawk tracks. Feels like an attempt to relive the days of Binaural 20 years on.
I would have made this the lead single, believe it or not. It's got a great riff and swagger to it from the drum line. Vedder sounds good and it demands attention.

I don't know why I haven't talked about Matt's big triplets fill to end this song, that's the magic I want more of from him

Re: Quick Escape
I know it's been said a bunch in this thread but god damn the last minute or so of this is Pearl Jam at their fucking best, hitting on all cylinders, heavy but clear, Jeff taking the lead, Matt actually sounding like he's alive, all mixed perfectly, etc, etc.

I'm referring to the first solo. It's the appetizer before the main course.Brett wrote:I think the ending solo is Mike.Monkey_Driven wrote:Don't sleep on Stone's solo.evenslow wrote:I know it's been said a bunch in this thread but god damn the last minute or so of this is Pearl Jam at their fucking best, hitting on all cylinders, heavy but clear, Jeff taking the lead, Matt actually sounding like he's alive, all mixed perfectly, etc, etc.

The brief, skronky solo at around 2:26 is Stone.Brett wrote:I think the ending solo is Mike.Monkey_Driven wrote:Don't sleep on Stone's solo.evenslow wrote:I know it's been said a bunch in this thread but god damn the last minute or so of this is Pearl Jam at their fucking best, hitting on all cylinders, heavy but clear, Jeff taking the lead, Matt actually sounding like he's alive, all mixed perfectly, etc, etc.

Ah, my bad. I saw evenslow was talking about what was going on in the final minute of the song, and I just kinda assumed that was the solo you meant.Monkey_Driven wrote:I'm referring to the first solo. Still get excited / surprised when it comes on. The grove, the jam, even the latter day Ed Vocal with it's distorted effects. It's all great.

I only really listened out for the first solo after reading the Josh Evans article. Can't wait to see what they do with this one live.

I love the way this almost falls apart by the end. Like a mad frenetic energy they’re all loving different ways. It cool

Re: Quick Escape
yeah it's great; I used to see this "everything falls apart" type of ending as a real hallmark of PJ's music, but they've been so obsessed with clean precision in recent times, they wouldn't have tried something like this; I'm glad they loosened up on this albumdimejinky99 wrote:I love the way this almost falls apart by the end. Well they’re bastards for fade outs. It’s all fade outs on the best songs too faithful evolution
