Can't wait for this.
It's been striking how she's become a new generation's version of someone like Tom Waits. Long periods between albums, rarely tours, a sound that began as piano-based compositions and has morphed into something completely unique and idiosyncratic as time has gone on, etc.

Re: The Fiona Apple Thread
yeah i agree with this, but Tom is way more complete as an artist. He made soundtracks, movies as an actor, wrote stuff....Fiona seems way more complicated and recluse.digster wrote:Can't wait for this.

The New Yorker piece about her is a great great read.

The new one is supposed to triple down on random percussive elements - like sometimes literally thing she found around her house to drum on.
There are few people that truly deserve the term "artist" these days, but she's definitely one of them.

I believe I still have a VHS of her first performance on SNL circa '96 that had a fairly troubled RDJ host, my how things have changed.

For sure. She is amazing. I hope i can see her live someday, she was coming here in 2012 and dropped because her dog was about to die. For that alone, i respected her even more.
