The reason the band has lasted 30 years is directly related to Ed *not* being a self-centered d-bag. With the success they had (and his role in it), it would have been very easy for him to view himself as being above the other members of the band. He actually views all of the main guys as being equal to him, though.

mookie was a bad shooter, good passer, and great perimeter defender who led the league in steals for two seasons. he averaged 2.3 spg over a 13 year career. that's amazing. it's really hard to find a comp for that in today's NBA.

bledsoe is a pretty good comp but he's a much better shooter.

statistically, the closest you can probably get is someone like ricky rubio (can't shoot, but will pass and steal the ball). but his style of play is not all that similar.
