At what point do these primary elections crest into illegitimacy? Wisconsin has to be right at the threshold.

I mean, I feel like we've crossed that bridge. But, yeah, let's say Wisconsin.

I mean OAS-intervention-level illegitimacy, Joe Biden's claim to the nomination is publicly contested, not just a vague sense that it's bad.

:haha:

Bernie is by far the most pro-Trump reelection politician in DC.

There's a prediction thread so maybe I should put it there, but here goes: Biden is going to lose to Trump by a wider electoral college margin than Hillary did.

I don't know much about anything, but comments like these don't really say anything except "Bernie sucks, I don't like him." Lots of people feel that way, I get it, but to suggest he's pro-Trump is as wild and out of touch as the things some of Bernie's comms people post on Twitter.

I think he means that Bernie being on the ticket would be the most pro-Trump ticket the DNC could come up with. Not exactly borne out in polling data but that's never stopped anyone before.

Check your timeline--Washington State declared a SOE on February 29th but still held their primary on March 10th, just three days before the national SOE which many feel was called too late. The primary elections held on the 17th were absolutely illegitimate insofar as they forced voters to take significant physical risks, as is Wisconsin's today, and there's pretty strong argument that the ones on the 10th should have been postponed as well. So "before coronavirus" Biden had a lead of around 150 delegates. Add that to the DNC's decision to reduce delegate allotments for states that move their primaries and the Wisconsin SC decision and you have a pretty significant erosion of faith in how representative these elections are. Would Biden have won anyway? Hard to say--the pandemic might shift voter preference one way or the other, and it will be easier to know when the big round of primaries go in early June. But that doesn't really address the question of whether or not these elections actually represent the will of democratic voters. Strong case for no! Alternately, we can say that if someone is expected to win anyway, then it doesn't matter if there's any irregularities in the electoral process, undue burdens on voters, etc. Please feel free to apply this logic to other nations' elections!

Maybe Washington, the state where the pandemic really hit first, had something to worry about on March 10th. But that's where the argument begins and ends. Biden put the nail in the coffin that day.

Yea, I rooted for Bernie as much as anyone, but the race effectively ended 3/3/20.
