I can't help but think that all this talk of things fundamentally changing after the virus is just wishful thinking.

We'll have a sustained period of finger-pointing and blaming vis a vis the election. Corporations won't hire back but a fraction of those who have lost their jobs, and will erase any thought of a new work paradigm by assuring those who are employed that they're "lucky to even have a job."

There’ve been a shit ton of crows around my house all of the sudden. It’s been three or four days now.

Best guess: it’s the crows from the UW, about a mile down the road. All of the discarded college food disappeared, and it hasn’t come back, so they’re getting desperate. And because I live near the children’s hospital (currently an operational construction site) it’s one of the few places left nearby with consistent opportunities.

Just watched a homeless man melt down screaming and sobbing across the street after finding no food in the bus stop trash. Heart wrenching.

Before we could manifest a plan to help, a children’s hospital security guard came out and directed him to a food bank. But it was painful to watch, and it made me think about those university crows, wandering the city in hungry desperation. A lot of people in trouble out there.

More evidence that the non-COVID fallout from this is going to be much worse that the actual people who die from the virus.

I wish them luck, but some of the places in East Asia that have loosened their restrictions are seeing upticks in cases again. Until there is a real treatment or vaccine, I doubt there will be a real, lasting "opening up" anywhere. I get that we can't stay in lockdown forever, but this seems too soon.
