Seriously, fuck this guy
I wish I understood what this means.
It means that he thinks any music made by PJ without his control - is utter rubbish.

I really don't see O'Brien's disinterest in Pearl Jam's other work as some egregious crime. I think it's understandable that his work with the band is, ultimately, just work to him.

He's not a Pearl Jam fan, they hire him to do a job.

I can picture BOB driving down a highway on a sunny day with a hot girl in an open top car, glove box full of only albums he recorded and the stereo cranked. At the point in time where there is a lull in conversation he uses the opportunity to point out "Hey did I tell you I recorded this album? Check out my keyboard solo" and he gives himself a Wayne's World headbang moment.

The more he speaks the more he seems like that sort of guy.

A job that would be done better if he cared about the canon and knew their other work intimately, no?

You know who the last person I'm thinking of is when I'm listening to Pearl Jam....the producer.

That's for the band to decide. In any event, I think he's probably worked with them enough to get a read on their vibe by now.

I'm really hoping that'll be true of the next one. All this has kind of soured me on it.

Maybe. Maybe it was part of the brief to make them sound very unlike their former selves.

Unless you're talking about his solo album.
