Re: Seven O'Clock
I really wish there was a little more going on in the middle; I love the verses, and then I love the "much to be done" outro, but it wanders in the middle
I love it still
I love it still

I can't get enough of this song. When I go to listen to the album on my ipod, I always seem to play this one first, then start the album all the way through...

Forgot I wrote this, but I literally only meant that both have long, conversational verses that blossom into bombastic, orchestral choruses, then lift off the ground completely in a cathartic final stretch.cutuphalfdead wrote:No that's Nothing as it Seems.McParadigm wrote:This song is the Pearl Jam equivalent to Comfortably Numb.
Nothing As it Seems is a good song, but it doesn’t do any of that.

The synth line in 7 O'Clock's chorus immediately evoked what I felt was a similar line in the chorus of Comfortably Numb.McParadigm wrote:Forgot I wrote this, but I literally only meant that both have long, conversational verses that blossom into bombastic, orchestral choruses, then lift off the ground completely in a cathartic final stretch.cutuphalfdead wrote:No that's Nothing as it Seems.McParadigm wrote:This song is the Pearl Jam equivalent to Comfortably Numb.

We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

Re: Seven O'Clock
I thought it was a nice emotionally resonant thing to add to the conversation about this song; I know they care about the cause(s) of frontline workers, and "much to be done" carries a bit of thatoneway23 wrote:Fucking fantastic...thanks for posting thatMs Harmless wrote:Rainbow Appears Over NYC as 7 O'Clock Cheer Takes Place

Re: Seven O'Clock
You posted this a while ago, and I agreed with it in general, but wouldn't have known how to explain. This description nails it.McParadigm wrote: Forgot I wrote this, but I literally only meant that both have long, conversational verses that blossom into bombastic, orchestral choruses, then lift off the ground completely in a cathartic final stretch.
Edit: "a while ago" refers to the original post comparing this to PF a while back.

Re: Seven O'Clock
I'm really enjoying this track. I love the unique chorus method, no repetition. Musically, it's pretty fucking nice.

If you go just off of the YouTube views (the end-all be-all, I know), this is the track that's getting the most daily plays since the album came out. I think it's the most popular track across the fanbase.

Re: Seven O'Clock
This is an epic song, worthy of its central placement on the album. It’s beautiful musically and lyrically. It takes me places, and makes me drift away... 16/9.6

Re: Seven O'Clock
I too find myself most looking forward to this one now. I think this has grown on me the most. Top shelf song, really. One of their best in a long, long time. I am not even sure if there's another song in their catalogue that this can be compared with. This whole part is epic, hair raising stuff:
So held by these thoughts
They refuse to slip away
Hangman in dreamland
About to call your name
So held by these thoughts
They refuse to slip away
Hangman in dreamland
About to call your name
Pearl Jam is the only band I'll spend money on.
