If memory serves, we got an unofficial review of sorts of Backspacer about a month in advance of its launch from a UK journalist who wrote about it on his blog. He called Eddie's vocals "honeyed" rather than raspy or something, and described Just Breathe as being "drenched in strings". Wonder if we'll get a similar unofficial post from any journalist sooner or later, assuming that like Q they have had the album now for a couple of months.

I think it was mainly the upbeat sound of the song that shocked people. Remember that we only heard it once. It's like jumping in cold water. After a while your body adjusts to the temperature and it does not feel so cold anymore.
