I don’t know if EOTT is actually good but it’s hard to deny its propulsive energy. Also gets bonus points because I love Rocky.

I saw Steve Miller live in 1999, and it was probably the worst concert I've ever seen (with the exception of Saliva, which I am choosing to not count). In high school his songs had a sort of widespread, nobody really loves this guy but everyone has his greatest hits CD, girls-won't-immediately-leave-if-you-play-these-at-a-party appeal to them, but the concert was the dullest bunch of nothing I'd ever experienced. In the early 70's Miles Davis used to share a bill at the Fillmore East with the Grateful Dead, Neil Young, Laura Nyro, and Miller, and on nights when Miller was scheduled to headline, Miles would deliberately show up late so that Miller had to go on first, saying he refused to open for "that non-playing motherfucker." To me that seemed like the kind of treatment he deserved. Like, he should be allowed to play, but should be bumped immediately if someone better deigns to show up.

"Eye of the Tiger" is like "We Will Rock You," i.e. a really cheesy song that 12 year-olds like because they hear it at local hockey games, but I will pick it over this Steve Miller song.

I'm excited to vote against Steve Miller Band. And the fact that it's a Rocky song going against Abracadabra makes it that much easier.

He couldn't get the guy who really sang his songs to sit and sing it.

Are you telling me that you bet on the fight in Rocky III, and you bet against Rocky?
