I’m really starting to feel the Yield comparisons more and more. This album is such a great one to spend meditative time with.

I wish I could find something about it to meditate on. Lyrics aren't enough, in the end theyre just someone's words and opinions. Lyrics that arent quality can ruin an album though. To me, Gigaton has become like a very good nursery rhyme leather-bound hardback with fantastic cover art . It's very catchy from cover to cover but after a week you already know what's in it . it doesn't matter if Ed takes an unexpected vocal detour on a bridge or verse occasionally, the instrumentation is nearly absent. They left the guitars at home.

he's not wrong in that this is their least guitar-centric album of all. By a lot. What surprises me is that I don't care. REM is just right behind Pearl Jam for my favorite band, and Mark Lanegan and Tom Waits behind them. So I do have lots of non-guitar heavy artists in my personal canon. But it is surprising and refreshing to see pearl jam pull it off, especially when there had not really been any prior overtures of any significance in this direction

this album has more guitar than Lightning Bolt did; it just includes clean and acoustic, and is perhaps lighter on the distortion than I'd prefer

i actually dont know the primary instrumentation in infallible and pendulum- i think pendulum is a guitar. Future Days is an acoustic guitar number. its the primary instrument. there is some background piano and strings
