Not bad, but not great either. It's a fun throwaway track that I don't see growing on me. I like the old school rock 'n Roll stylings. The snare sounds fucking terrible.

This song is everything that Johnny Guitar could have been. I remember saying to macphisto when backspacer was brand new, that Johnny Guitar ended just as it sounded like it was building into something awesome. But then it just...ended. Well, this song is exactly the same, except it doesn’t fucking end right at the most interesting moment. It develops. It expands. It brings surprises and new melodies... it’s great! And fun! And a welcome addition and break away from the past. It takes this song from a 3 to a 5 in an instant. Also,... Petty tribute :worthy:

Really?

I look at it more like this album's Supersonic - except better.

This is the best version of the “surf-rock” punk-ish Pearl Jam song that exists on all their albums. And I love it. I don’t usually care for this type of track but this is in the top half (3-5 as of now) of the album for me.

MFC trumps all three by a large margin.

Supersonic isn’t in the same stratosphere as the other songs in question.

Just had a fun moment with this song:

Giving the album a pretty passive listen while I read some stuff, get through the first two verses, and my mind skips ahead to singing the "She was a singer in a rock 'n roll band..." coda, because that's when this type of Pearl Jam song is supposed to end nowadays: sometime after the 2-minute mark, right when you're enjoying yourself but need a little something more.

And then the song flashed its "gaping maw" at me, and my ears whiplashed, and I was like, "Oh, right, this is Gigaton, and it's great."

MFC is a fun little unambitious track, and it’s a perfectly placed segue into the wind-down section of Yield, but it’s not better than.

This is a really fun song and definitely seems similar to Supersonic (which I also like). The breakdown around the 2:30 mark is so good. This song also seems like it could have actually used a brass section in the vein of the Who or the Kinks.

I don't really hear the MFC connection at all. Supersonic, for sure. MFC not so much.

I really love MFC btw, one of my favorites from Yield.
