I don’t think he understands what is going on here.

Don’t get me wrong, low risk people should be able to get back to life as normal immediately because the advertised death rate is WAY higher than the real death rate due to lack of testing ... but my dad should be staying home.
I wouldn't let him in the house, I'm not kidding. Of course tell him that beforehand

My partner's sister in Portland has it. She has mild symptoms, though, so fingers crossed. And today's her birthday. :(

you're not wrong, but there's the psychological damage of isolation to weigh too. even if he stays for a short while (at a distance), it will probably mean a lot to him.

Definitely. My mom is high risk, having just recovered from cancer. But it’s really rough for her to be alone every day, all day. So sometimes we hang out in my driveway just so she can see her grandkids (and people in general). Minimal risk to keep her mental state somewhat ok.

It's probably overly cautious but it is killing healthy people and what counts as an underlying condition is pretty flexible.
It's unlikely to be a big problem for healthy people, but you should still be away from your family as much as possible, and handwashing should go to 11.

Did you say you're working? Stop that last week.

Yeah, I'm working. The company I'm with didnt give an option. Now that my wife isn't letting me see her and the kids because of corona fears, I need to continue working to avoid coming totally undone mentally or something .
Wait. I thought you were sick. You don't have to isolate just b/c you're working. Just shower when you get home.

Knee quote

How many people do you come in close contact with a day? Also, what state do you live in?

Knee and B,

Thanks for the inquiries. I'm not sick with it but i believe i was over a month ago.

I haul hazmat in tractor/trailer, so im mostly in the cab of the truck but i have to stop at walk in restaurants twice per day for takeout and every few days for fuel. I live in IL. My wife, kids and i live almist 5 hours apart due to my work. Sbe quit letting me visit after corona hit. I've been reading up and it seems healthy young kids aren't being harmed by it due to their immune systems being different than that of adults. Their immune systems dont overwork which allows them to avoid the pnemonia aspect of it, if im not mistaken . Mine are ages 1 and 2 though and were born preemies, so i dont know how all that factors in.

i realized i went through a big siracha phase when i was sick in Feb and now wondering if I had lost taste

remember thinking 'god the food i am eating is so bland'

i dont normally put hot sauce on things because i am a repressed closeted conservative

but i had been making a lot of basic grains and meat type stuff and bringing it to work

fast fwd to now and i had a smidge of siracha last night and i was like 'wow this is spicy'

i was eating tons in feb

i remember thinking at one point 'well i have a cold so that's prob why i can't taste'

i had a dry cough like crazy then too

also diarrhea

but maybe from too much siracha

Stop listening to Greta Van Fleet. That will help.

Lol. Its too late. I bought their album while getting groceries about 30 minutes after reading your message. Will u forgive me?! I was hooked after hearing the guitar in lover leaver and I think the album version is even better because there's more guitar on that song on the album. I can't help but like them because of the guitarist. the bass and drums are good too.

Thanks. Yeah, Its rough. My wife and I had just gotten back together about a month before corona hit and she had separated from me for a year before that. She's going to take the kids on a 6-12 month vavation to her home country next year. The stages of my kids are passing by quickly and I'm missing those. I'll get to see them again when this IL lockdown ends, whenever that will be.

If that was directed toward me, thanks. I do appreciate your crazy posts and the normal ones.

I had loss of taste too but that only lasted a day or 2. I had migranes, severe shortness of breath and all the corona symptoms but major lung congestion
/ bronchitis too, so im not sure it wasnt just a bad case of bronchitis. I had xrays and no pneumonia.

i was waiting to see if it would go to my lungs. it didnt. one morning i thought it was on the cusp. but it didnt. that was going to be my threshold to go to the doctor. not because i thought it was corona - i still thought it was stuck in rural china - but bc last year i had a bad cold and never went to the dr and it went to my lungs and it took a while to get over

and this could have just been another bad cold

wont know til the antibody test comes back

which cant begin unless the NIH responds to my request to participate in their study

and they are probably sorting through a million unstructured emails right now because they didnt just put up an online sign-up form

Just got some really bad news about the one person I know who has the 'VID. If, as we're expecting now, there's going to have to be a grieving period, it's going to be weird as fuck to do it over Zoom. I feel like it started tonight, and it was just surreal.

No worries, it's always good to laugh. When we were getting the most critical update someone's dog jumped on their couch so we got a face full of dog asshole during the story.
