I think there’s a point to this. Kurt Cobain loves the spotlight, and unlike his peers who chose the moment to recognize and appreciate others, he used it to crap on bands he didn’t like. He also loved that his sanctimonious opinions were considered vital back then. He kept up the machine when he didn’t have to because he wanted to stay huge. He just wanted to keep his Street cred while doing it.Wendy Carlos's Twin wrote:Way to totally miss the point. I never said he didn't want to be famous.warehouse wrote:lol, everything kurt cobain said about not being "famous" was bullshit. it was just a front b/c he wanted to appear "indie". if he didnt want to be famous nirvana would have stopped doing mtv shows, interviews, music videos, etc. we are also totally overlooking the fact this guy had a huge drug problem. but this idea that kurt cobain didnt want to be famous is a joke. of course he did, look at how he conducted his career.
edit: i also love nirvana. like more than some family members. but i never fell for that nonsense.
Nirvana’s albums and music were great, but he was placed on a pedestal and that was what was unfortunate for the time. There were other bands just as good if not better. Cobain would pay lip service to that but he never pulled anyone up with him. He just crapped on the competition.
