As your favorite album, how do you balance your adoration for Trump with Gigaton’s contempt for the President?

Don’t care at all. Art vs. politics. I’ve never mixed the two. I love Roger Waters too, and he is a hardcore socialist and promotes everything I hate, but I love music and art. And he’s a musician. And artist. And I appreciate that completely.Kaius wrote:As your favorite album, how do you balance your adoration for Trump with Gigaton’s contempt for the President?

That’s separating the artist from the art. But we are talking about the art itself literally shitting on your leader.
But it’s your favorite.
But it’s your favorite.

He’s not my leader, and I love the art. No problem whatsoever. You may have one, but not me. Sorry.Kaius wrote:That’s separating the artist from the art. But we are talking about the art itself literally shitting on your leader.

No problem here. I think Eddie did his best writing in years.

I love that you love this album so much. I like it a lot too. But, it's a long way from my favorite.PHATJ wrote:Pronounce it your favorite too. Do it. Do it.
Right now, Gigaton is Little Mac, breezing through the first few rounds before getting hung up somewhere around Don Flamenco.

It’s genuinely beautiful and I’d venture to say brilliant. His melodies too. It’s a remarkable album. It really is.Kaius wrote:No problem here. I think Eddie did his best writing in years.

It's a steep climb, and it's up against some deep-rooted, intangible things that as I get older become increasingly difficult for any new album to prevail against. But -- who cares. I like it a lot, and only find myself tempted to compare it to other PJ albums during discussions; that kind of exercise thankfully hasn't really informed my experience of actually listening to the album at all. Right now, it's the PJ I want to hear.PHATJ wrote:You’ll get there...Kevin Davis wrote:I love that you love this album so much. I like it a lot too. I love that, and it’s all it needs to be for now. Let it breathe. It’s fresh, new, and still familiar,... and it rocks, and it moves emotionally, and maybe makes you dance a little,.. and imagine space out there... it just moves. It moves in meaningful ways. Gigaton is a truly remarkable album. I’m very confident in that statement. This is musically dynamic, rhythmic, soulful, and yet angry in all the right ways. It’s epic... really epic... the most epic sounding PJ album since Ten. It’s also timely, romantic, and urgent. It’s sexy, and raw, yet poignant. I’m all in.Kevin Davis wrote:It's a steep climb, and it's up against some deep-rooted, intangible things that as I get older become increasingly difficult for any new album to prevail against.
