Cold Desert is great.
I'm no production wiz or anything, but these albums sound great to me. Maybe PJ should get in touch with their producer.

Well yeah; they sound shiny and slick, as Backspacer does, but somehow with more life.

I wonder how this person got the studio version of this. Does this mean the rest of the album is out there?ccanad wrote:Beautiful War

Yes, you're right. I posted my message before finishing the song...but by the end, I realized it was taken from there.harmless wrote:Isn't this from the Radio 1 sessions posted above?Tyler Durden wrote:I wonder how this person got the studio version of this. Re: Kings Of Leon
One observation about KOL -- which I was beginning to make over the last three albums but is much more obvious by now -- is their tendency to take songs which would typically be played with a certain rhythm, and put that rhythm a half-step down. So for example, a song like 'Family Tree' is reminiscent of the first two albums' bluesy 'hoedown' except that it's played in 4/4 rather than a fast 2/4. In some songs this halfing the rhythm is more effective than others, and I'm trying to decide how much it bothers me in general. But I could pick out several songs since Because of the Times where it happens. It might be because the drummer is trying to lift the song from its traditional roots and make it more contemporary, in which case at least I admire the effort. I guess, in the case of 'Beautiful War', the timing is halved because otherwise it would be too similar to Pyro.

I thought it was a stream, it's a track-by-track review, but still interesting.

With all the hype I was hearing for Beautiful War, I thought it would be way better than it is.

Zane Lowe is a twat. He hyped it up to such a ridiculous extent it was bound to fail. It's nice enough though.gems and rhinestones wrote:With all the hype I was hearing for Beautiful War, I thought it would be way better than it is.

Ya it's not a bad song at all but Trani is a billion times better and so are several other KOL songs.harmless wrote:Zane Lowe is a twat.
