Still listening to this album everyday and loving it. Discovering more layers and textures all the time. Long Live PJ!

I think the original cinema experience had more minutes. Maybe this is that reel...all the visualizers mixed in dolby atmos with some message from the band?stip wrote:Wasn’t that just the visualizers?VinylGuy wrote:im guessing thisinjuddstree wrote:Will it be a stream of the "cinema experience" originally planned before the cancellations?

I can now pretty confidently say that, for me, Gigaton is better than:
Binaural (as released)
Self-titled
Lightning Bolt
Backspacer
Riot Act

I'm gonna wait a few months to rank the albums, but I feel like I would put Gigaton in the top 5 right now.

Had years, and, in many cases, decades with their albums. No way I could possibly make any "all-time" proclamations after a month of living with this.
Let's see if I keep returning to it year after year, and if its messages resonate with me in differing ways as time proceeds

We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

Re: The Official GIGATON Thread
I came across this video and starting at 12:30 they discuss Brendan O'Brien and how the band's relationship with him has evolved over the years. I'm sure it's old news but thought I'd share just in case. Lots to unpack but basically what I hear is that BOB became more of a Rick Rubin type of producer over time, as well as the band going from a more improvisational style of songwriting to pre-production/demos and the like.
I'm trying real hard to be the shepherd.

Re: The Official GIGATON Thread
I agree with this in many ways. Each new album I am very enthusiastic, and as I become more comfortable it slides into its position on how I feel about it. Right now, it would be very high on the list but it’s because I will reach for before any of the others because it is so fresh to me and currently speaks to me loudly, but there’s no guarantee that continues to happen in the long term. It probably will though.oneway23 wrote:Had years, and, in many cases, decades with their albums. No way I could possibly make any "all-time" proclamations after a month of living with this.
