Words and Guitars (For as much as I don't care for this song, it always seems to get a good reaction from the crowds)

Re: Sleater Kinney / Wild Flag / Quasi / related bands
I saw three shows on this tour (both Portland shows and Seattle 1) and I have to say that I missed Janet far less than I thought I would. The band sounded fantastic, and I'm not sure I've ever seen Corin and Carrie so happy. It seems weird, but I think it's possible they're actually okay with this whole situation.
Every fan seems to have an opinion on the Janet debacle so here's mine, if you care: I think the recording of the new album ended up being a lot of miscommunication, which spiraled into a major conflict between Janet and Corin and Carrie. But I also think Janet is probably not the easiest person to work with, just based on what I know about the band dynamics and based on the whispers I hear every now and then here in Portland. I don't blame her for quitting but a lot of people would have stuck it out and continued with the band, even if they weren't happy. It's also possible Janet being gone frees Corin and Carrie to do other things in the band maybe they've been wanting to do. I would love to hear a mellow S-K record full of songs like "Broken" and "Modern Girl", for example.
I also think it isn't worth being upset about. I love Sleater-Kinney to tears, and I will continue to do so. I also love the new album, though not nearly as much as their Dig Me Out > The Hot Rock > All Hands > One Beat > The Woods run. And that's okay.

Hopefully once Janet recovers from her accident, Quasi can put something out.

Re: Sleater Kinney / Wild Flag / Quasi / related bands
When I saw Quasi years ago, at a small little club in Madison, were pretty much the first ones there. Janet and Sam were sitting at the small merch table next to the bar. Janet, didn't interact with anyone. Sam, came out and watched both opening bands right next to me in the crowd... after the show I went to the merch table to buy the Quasi DVD where they did all the Who covers. Sam, asked if we enjoyed the show / told me to enjoy the DVD / was a lot of fun to make. Janet, took my money, gave me my change, didn't say a word. Definitely would never judge someone from one interaction, but that definitely seems like that's how most peoples interactions with Janet go.VinylGuy wrote:Matt Reeder is back!!! welcome back friend!matt reeder wrote:I saw three shows on this tour (both Portland shows and Seattle 1) and I have to say that I missed Janet far less than I thought I would.
