Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

Cosmonauts might be my early fave with this album, though I struggle to get the title track out of my head. Relay gets really caught in there as well. I expect these ideas to change several times as I keep listening. This album is loaded.

My son has disappeared into video game land during this lockdown, but my 2 daughters (5 & 10) have made "Ladies" the theme song to this episode in our lives.

Always liked the song "criminal" a lot and wanted to check out her other stuff. I think I'll make a point to get around to it.

Gave this my second listen yesterday and then immediately put on Idler Wheel afterward. Pearl Jam's the only artist I'm ever really interested in splitting hairs about album or song quality, but I think Idler Wheel is the bigger deconstructive/sonically challenging statement.

Said differently, FTBC feels like a logical extension of Idler Wheel, where she's taken a lot of the percussive elements she was working with on Idler Wheel and really foregrounded them on the new record.

FTBC (the song) has such an otherworldly, eerie quality to it. really happy she added it at the last moment.

New album is a beast, and FWIW I totally agree with Joni. Fiona Apple is a songwriting titan to me at this point. She just gets better and better.

she's definitely the adult in the room. and when it comes to pedestrian or lazy lyrics we often hear, she's a breath of fresh air.

This is really good. I was a little disappointed in Idler Wheel. This feels like it is musically in a similar place but has more of the sensibility of Extraordinary Machines (he says after two listens)

If you don't think Idler Wheel is the best you're stupid and should feel bad.

But god damn this new one is fantastic. I'd be shocked if it didn't settle as a close second in my rankings.
