"Old Friend" by Rancid is one of my favorite basslines ever; that guy is a pretty awesome bassist in general, though I don't really know Rancid apart from a couple albums.

Bruce Thomas's bassline on "The Beat" is one of my favorites too.

In jazz world I really like the ECM bassist Eberhard Weber, and Gary Peacock (who has an extensive resume but who I know mainly from Keith Jarrett's Standards Trio).

Some of BT's basslines are just crazy in their dynamism and inventiveness

Matt Freeman is his name. One of the best bassists that uses a pick. Just insanely fast & often complex lines. Under appreciated for sure.

I agree, I think Bruce Thomas has probably composed more of my individual favorite basslines than anyone. With EC's rhythm playing being so rudimentary, I feel like Bruce's basslines often carry the main instrumental melody of most Attractions songs.

Yes Matt Freeman was one of the first bassists I took notice of, thanks to that crazy solo in "Maxwell Murder"

Pretty impressive how Paul Simonon went from basically not knowing how to play when they started recording the first Clash record to everything he’s done on the bass since.

I really enjoyed his work on the good, the bad, and the queen
Although it should be noted that he didn’t play the awesome bass part on The Magnificent Seven. That was session-God Norman Watt-Roy.

The bass on Riders on the Storm is one of my all time favs. If I remember my Doors lore I think they got Elvis's bass player to do it.

Watt is indeed a legend, loved his weird project "Dos" I think it was called with the 2 bassists.

This Thundercat dude has been blowing my mind of late.

That said, the all-time bass God for me is still Jaco. A freaking alien.

Jaco was amazing yeah. But i hardly listen to him, i guess its mostly for a phase or moment.

Eric A bass line of Mountain Song or his work on Three Days are amazing. Also, pretty much everything Ben Shepherd does on Superunknown or DOTU.
