I'm currently browsing unopened packs of 90-91 NBA Hoops basketball cards on eBay.

I re-read a book on the Cavs written in 1995 about the first 25 years of the organization. What a fucking mess.

It's called Cavs: From Fitch to Fratello. I'd never heard of the authors before and it's not the best written thing in the world, but some of the stories they found from the first 10-12 years of the franchise make you wonder how the team managed to still exist.Monkey_Driven wrote:What book?Joesanity wrote:I re-read a book on the Cavs written in 1995 about the first 25 years of the organization. And the Ron Harper trade...

How he was begging Lenny Wilkins to put him on Jordan for the final shot and when Wilkins picked ehlo he was like "alright, whatever, fuck this bullshit."Joesanity wrote:What did he say?verb_to_trust wrote:Harper had the best line last night on "the shot"

Re: NBA Thread
As I was only 8 at the time, I can't speak to Ron Harper's defensive abilities in 1989. But according to this book, Ehlo and Nance were supposed to double Jordan on the play the Bulls were going to run so that forced him to fake make a cut which allowed him to lose both guys and give him the space to hit that shot. Great players make great plays.
Harper and GM Wayne Embry never got along and then there was lots information going around at the time about the guys Harper was hanging out with, like they were drug dealers and such. Even the NBA got involved and told the Cavs what they knew about these guys which then led ownership to force a trade. Lenny really wanted to keep him but couldn't talk the team out of it. Then it was mostly downhill from there outside of one more trip to the conference finals.

Wow. Interesting stuff. In the doc Jordan says not having Harper on him was a mistake, because that was the guy on the Cavs who guarded him best. Seems like something you'd say about your future ex teammate though if you were Jordan.

Ep 3 of The Last Season was wonderful. I always had a soft spot for Rodman, even before he became a PJ fan.

I fucking love the jazz on that season. Even as a Jordan - Pippen - Rodman fan, i was super psyched to see that making it to the end.

Re: NBA Thread
They were lame. Asshole coach. Roster of white guys. Stockton was great obviously, but his game was boring, nothing exciting about the pnr with Malone. Jeff Hornacek-dork. And the Mailman, a choke artist who raped a baby into his 13 year old neighbor. The only guy on the team with any flair whatsoever was Russell, and he'll always be known exclusively for getting cooked repeatedly by the Goat.
Even their uniforms sucked by following the mid to late 90s trend of overloading, in their case, with mountain graphics (rockets, Sonics, Pistons, Warriors had similar logo changes that had zero staying power).
Thank you, next
