Building the "Ultimate" PJ Album: TRACK ONE

Post by Jorge »

We are going to build a PJ album track-by-track by voting for the best song from each track number.

The twist is that as soon as a song from an album wins, its corresponding album is off the table for future rounds. Hopefully this encourages people to vote strategically.

So if you really like "Once" but you like "Alive" even more, maybe vote for a different song so as to avoid knocking Ten off the competition. This way, each PJ album will be represented... one of them by default.

VOTE!

Edit: Poll is closed

I'm about to get busy with some work stuff so I am ending the poll now at 69 votes (nice)

Once - 3 votes (4%)
Go - 22 votes (32%)
Last Exit - 8 votes (12%)
Sometimes - 4 votes (6%)
Brain of J - 8 votes (12%)
Breakerfall - 2 votes (3%)
Can't Keep - 13 votes (19%)
Life Wasted - 5 votes (7%)
Gonna See My Friend - 0 votes (0%)
Getaway - 3 votes (4%)
Who Ever Said - 1 vote (1%)

Also: we're doing 12 rounds. The first 11 rounds will be straightforward, and then the 12th will be a special one where all the post-11 tracks duke it out to be the album closer. This will be the only round where you can vote for a song from a previously eliminated album.

I'm heading Jorge's warning and going with Go over Last Exit even though I like Last Exit a little more to save Vitalogy for a latter round.

Whoa, this is a pretty cool idea. Gonna have to think on this for a little bit before voting.

Go is the clear choice for track one. Not only is it in the top 3 openers, it's also probably the best song on Vs.

the strategic element must be understood here

the moment there is a semi-potable Backspacer track we should all leap on it otherwise we are gonna get stuck with a piece of donkey sh*t

I’ve tried multiple times to make mixes including songs from every album. Never works because of the range of production styles. I’ll still participate though in hopes of finally being proven wrong.

Voted for BoJ, but losing Wishlist stings. But it’s better than the alternative of voting Last Exit then losing Nothingman.

I have no doubt that the resulting album will be a mess. This is just a fun (?) quarantine time-waster

I am almost certain we will end up with "The End" as track 11, just because people will refuse to vote for Backspacer before we get to that track

It's tempting to vote "Go" because it is a really good song and would make a killer opener, but there are songs I like more on Vs. I could also swing for "Can't Keep" for similar reasons.

On the other hand, I could go with "Getaway" and try to knock Lightning Bolt out early.

Some early pj tunes are favorites on here because they're darker, harder/faster despite others being better?

I did not heed the warning and wish I could re-vote. I voted for Can't Keep but would much rather have All or None in its respective position. Oh well.

Edit: track 15, it never had a chance lol

"All Or None" will still have a chance in the final round, where all post-11 tracks will duke it out to be the closer no matter if their respective albums were already knocked out

This should be interesting.

I voted for Go. It was a pretty easy choice since it's the only track 1 that I'd consider my favourite on it's respective album.
