Because people can stumble across spoilers in comments or social media accidentally. Basically, the people who go out of their way to spoil things suck.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I'm saying I don't see why anyone would seek out any info on the game at this point. Knowing enough that basically informs me they put the work in and it's going to be awesome is worth the money for me.
Spoiler: show
I've already heard something about lesbians in the story and that's already too much info.

There was a same sex kiss in the second trailer for the game.

Yup, going dark on this too. I've waited too long for this fucking game and have a lot of faith in Naughty Dog to deliver the goods so I want to enjoy the element of surprise. Just glad to hear that we seem to finally have a seemingly 'no-kidding' release date from the big whigs at Sony.

Ghost of Tsushima also pushed to 17 July, as I'm sure you all saw.

Ugh, I read the leaks. Didn't watch anything though. Really wish I hadn't. Will leave it at that

Why?!?!?!

Of any medium, video game spoilers are probably the most deserving of context. Even if the leaks seem silly, controversial, cliche, or unearned, I'm sure it will play better in the actual game.

FYI, I have not read or seen any spoilers.

:( I don't know man, so disappointed in myself. Caught a glimpse of a comments section on instagram and then went down a rabbit hole, couldn't resist. Yes, I definitely still plan to play the game (because it looks amazing) but I've level set my expectations on the story. Agree though context on this medium is king, so I'm hoping my opinion is swayed for the better come June.

The game has gone gold, BTW. Looks like 19 June is the real deal

Man I'm tempted to read the spoilers because of the X TREEM criticism it appears to be receiving. Can someone who knows the spoilers just vaguely sum up the reason for the backlash without spoiling anything?

I haven't read them, nor will I, but something tells me the criticisms are coming from the anti-SJW crowd. AND the complete lack of context of course.

This trailer would have been so awesome had I not read the spoilers  . Holding out hope that my mind will be changed upon playing all the way through. Still a day one play for me though, game looking unbelievably good from a graphics perspective. The first game is probably on my all-time Top 5 list.

Hey bud, I'll try not to be too specific. I should probably just PM you.
Spoiler: show
the SJW hate is a bit out of context, but the spoilers revolve around the fact that the games core/beloved characters (Joel/Ellie) don't get proper fan service in the sequel. I've only 'read' the spoilers and didn't watch any of the leaked footage, but if what I read is true, I'm pretty disappointed by how the story and Joel/Ellie's narrative is playing out in the sequel. I think people are tying hate to SJW because of Ellie's sexuality, another character named Abby who is really muscular for a woman, and the Neil Druckman (the game's director) apparent ties and appreciate for Anita Sarkeesian (a huge woman's rights activist). If you'd like more detail let me know, was trying not to completely ruin things for you haha

No, that's good. I appreciate the explanation. Sounds like none of this would ruin anything about the game for me. Seems about as relevant as Laura Dern's purple hair is to the SW universe.

Shit I got really close to hearing the spoilers in a YouTube video about how the game might "ruin video games forever" or some shit and I was like "whatever I give up" and the guy started explaining then the video froze then I closed the window. Whew. I heard something about a trans gendered person. Surely this outrage can't be justified. There's nothing political in a story I can imagine "ruining a video game". As long as it makes sense contextually and it's fun, who gives a shit?

I don't know anything about the trans gendered person.. perhaps he/she helped make the video game, perhaps it's a story point, I have no further information. That can't be a spoiler for you. Jeez.

Your post wasn't clear if the transgendered person was in the story or not.
