Maybe you need to turn it up louder! I hope it breaks through for you because this is one you can feel with your entire being and not just your brain.ghost wrote:See, that's exactly it. Thumbing My Way is as close to being on Seven o’Clock’s level as Gone is to tying Comes Then Goes in a poll. It’s not close.

Re: Seven O'Clock
I’ve always thought Thumbing My Way was an okay song but it tends to be a bit boring or “one note” in nature. I don’t have that issue with Seven O’Clock at all.

I think this is a top ten PJ song for me. I find myself constantly seeking it out.

Re: Seven O'Clock
The similarities have nothing to do with the music. It's more about placement in the track list, thematic importance to the rest of the album, some repetitive/draggy elements, and feeling like I should like it more than I do. Or that I like the idea of it more than the actual execution.
This is nitpicking. I enjoy the song. It's a solid ***1/2 on an album full of ****s and *****s.

Re: Seven O'Clock
TMW is an interesting comparison.
I feel like that one is the lowest-key moment on RA, whereas Seven O'Clock is epic and anthemic.
I don't see how they alike, stylistically, or as centrepieces of their respective records.

Really the only way to ever compare any two songs is if they are the same number in the track listing and also there is an ultimate album poll. Everything else is hubris.

Re: Seven O'Clock
I've decided the 2nd half kinda reminds me of the 2000 tour It's Okay tags....at least that underlying rhythm that's going on in Seven O'clock.
