Ed's vocal performance is a highlight of this for me; I haven't felt that in ages

"Room to tomb" makes sense, too, though, as the cradle would be contained within the room as a grave can be contained within a tomb.
Well....sort of...but a room isn't very specific. Womb is a much better lyric and Im pretty sure that's what he's saying. Both are idioms that mean "birth to death". Room to tomb means nothing.
I don't have it on me at the moment to double check, but I am sure the official booklet/artwork that came with the CD has "room to tomb."

Yes, the booklet says room to tomb. Ed chooses his words carefully, and then types them as the "official typist." He did not get this wrong. You just want it to be a different way.

I'm fine with him saying "room." Saying "womb" is pretty obvious, so he probably has some reason to say "room."

But I don't think there's any way he's actually saying "It's all in the delivery."

This is very true. Such a contrast from Getaway

I love the way he sings "Home is where the broken heart iiiis"

The breathy "is" reminds me of mid-career Eddie in a beautiful way

I haven’t seen any Pearl Jam liner notes in like a decade, but I remember them mostly for being unconcerned with providing exactly accurate lyrics. I remember some bad spelling, some purposeful misrepresentation, and a lot of whatever the spacebar is doing here: “I’ve been har boring fleets in this resevoir (sic).”

"it's all in the delivery, said the messenger who is now dead" makes sense to me.

Yeah it's not like we can expect obvious from the "I'm in the fire but I'm still cold" guy

Yea it makes sense, but listen to the song. I think guitar_davey has it right.

I think there's an intended version and then what Ed managed to fit in the recorded version.

it doesn't even sound like "delivery" either; more like "re-livery"

I don't know what the original saying is but it may well be "it's all delivery, said the messenger who is dead"

so you're right about the lyric

I think the *second* line is "it's all on the periphery / I didn't see him but I heard what he said"

these lyrics are actually solid
