I thought that was about Trump using COVID fears to end immigration into the United States.
It's about the lockdown.

The lockdown is a withdrawal of individual liberty, so the statue is not crying in the context of it being one the first things that early 20th century immigrants saw in America, but instead in the context that we have abridged the liberty those people were seeking.

To people complaining about losing your freedoms:

ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.

The lib cable channels are not wrong at all. The newspapers bit is pretty lazy.

I assumed you meant BuzzFeed News, since the original meme is about news reporting and not gossip sites, which are still different from "product reviews on Twitter" or whatever it is you've imagined.

like after 9-11 when we not only infringed on individual liberties, but also profiled people based on their race and national origin to do so?

Is there a Boogaloo version of the "studying the blade" meme? Definitely wish I had some Belarussian thermal optics right about now. And a Hawaiian shirt, but that is fixable.
