yeah thats a terrible idea.elliseamos wrote:that's dumb and should not happen. Would this include Thursday games? Bc that's even more stupid. Re: 2020 NFL Season
i think delaying is only useful if we know we are on the cusp of distributing some kind of treatment or vaccine breakthrough
which by Sept I doubt we will be
just play the games in an empty stadium
or seat like 10 fans per section

Re: 2020 NFL Season
i have no problem delaying the season or playing in empty stadiums, or both. you cant make the players play that many weeks straight with out a break. i think they would need to amend the CBA, but they still shouldnt. its already a dangerous game, you need a week to recover at some point. the idea is ridiculous.

How long have the regular season bye weeks even been a thing? Even the bye week before the Super Bowl has not always happened. It's certainly better to have the off weeks and under normal circumstances there is no need to get rid of them. However I don't see what the big deal is to revert back for one season, I certainly wouldn't call the idea ridiculous or anything like that.

Re: 2020 NFL Season
If all the fans stay home and purchase NFL Sunday Ticket, teams probably wouldn't end up losing too much money. It would be very bizarre not hearing fans cheering and booing during the games though. Very bizarre. But the on-the-field sounds would be much more apparent, which could be fun.

The NFL has had regular season byes since 1990. There has been a week off before the Super Bowl since '04.Fuzzy_Dunlop wrote:How long have the regular season bye weeks even been a thing? This is why fans should never complain about the money these guys make. They run a risk of serious injury or death on national TV anytime they lace up.

Re: 2020 NFL Season
The NFL has extended their deal with Amazon Prime for streaming rights to the Thursday night game through 2022. They will also have exclusive national rights to one Saturday game; that game would still be broadcast in their local markets.
Which mean at least Thursday night games through at least 2022.

there's no reason to not have bye weeks. if they are going to delay the season there's no reason not to push the super bowl back. this isnt the 1980s, the physical abuse these guys take is different today. i think taking away the bye week so they can finish the super bowl a week earlier is a terrible idea.Biff Pocoroba wrote:The NFL has had regular season byes since 1990. And from a fan perspective:
A shorter offseason for 2021-22 is not a bad thing. Well, other than the new CBA needing to be in place.
