i agree, its a super broad term and probably why we disagree. it includes things like funk and soul, and they can be very different things. its more funk than soul under the r&b umbrella, if that makes any sense.

as someone who hasn't heard a lot of Talking Heads but accepts them as maybe the closest comparison to DOTC, my brain also goes to "Rock the Kasbah" by The Clash - albeit with a slower tempo than that song

I “kept it cool, hotshot” with this song so as to not burn out on it. Just listened for the first time in about four days, ... I’m hard now. It’s so fantastically good. 21 out of a possible 13.9

This, Quick Escape, and 7:00 are all songs that I'm protecting from overplay right now. I want to slowly discover them in all their richness.

This, SBWM, and maybe Comes than Goes are my 5 star songs. River Cross, Who Ever Said, Quick Escape, 7 Oclock, ALright, and Buckle Up are all 4+, though.

Take the Long Way is the only one that I didn't have in that category, but it's growing on me. They're all growing on me. Get them off of me! AAAAAAAAHH!

This is the best album we could get from a 30-year-old Pearl Jam, and I love it. Would not insert, delete, or re-arrange anything in any way.

I still say the Never Destination -> Take the Long Way part of the album is a bit of a problem/low point and since its also their longest album I can't help thinking Take the Long Way isn't all that necessary or something should have been done here (Idk even what - maybe making them shorter? Make one of them a better song? I dont even know)

But I wouldn't change anything else.
