Real talk: it's legit one of the top ten shows of the last decade. And one of my personal favorite shows of all time. It stumbles in small stretches. It could have/should have been shorter and the final season is a sort of largely unnecessary coda. But the laughs in S7 (when they come) are so big that I can forgive it.

It's a flawed run but in the end it's a journey well worth taking. I've seen every episode seven or eight times now. It has tremendous replay value.
Awesome - we definitely look forward to watching the whole thing. I'd always seen it on Netflix, but for some reason it just never piqued my interest, then the Mrs. saw the little clip that plays when you highlight the show and thought it looked "cute". We were both rolling the whole first episode and haven't stopped watching since..
The S1 Thanksgiving episode is one of the all time best episodes I've television I can think of. It's perfection. I watch it every year at Thanksgiving. It's so fucking perfect. Justin Long is amazing.

Can't wait for you to see everything. Each season has a couple of the show's best episodes. Which is cool. It's not all front loaded like a lot of TV comedies.

Yup. There was a season or two (3 and 4?) where it struggled to find itself.

For sure. I think once they let go of the "will they/won't they" stuff a bit and the writing gets a little more bonkers is when the show really picks up again and finds a second life.

They also always did a good job of using guest stars on multi-episode arcs. I always appreciated that to the more typical one-off guest spots.

When he pulled out the kazoo - my wife and I absolutely LOST it. The last episode we watched last night was the one with the guy that does Olaf's voice - Bearclaw, I think? That was a good one too...

Yes! Another gem. I really like the whole Doctor Sam arc, too. There's an ep coming up where Jess and Sam go to his boss's cabin. It's another one of my all-time favorite New Girl episodes. SO excited for you to see that one.

Also, while we're here... I don't think Jake Johnson gets enough credit for his incredible line readings. His deliveries are often so unexpected. Where he puts the emphasis, which words he highlights, the guy might be a genius.
