Spinning this on the record player. Full disclosure: I actually like this record and Backspacer. I mean top 6 PJ album like? No, but I like these better than most here

I haven't gone back and listened to this album from start to finish in quite some time. Per my music app, I haven't listened to this thing much since October / November 2013.

Pearl Jam have never made a record that I think is bad. Backspacer is my least favorite but there's still a ton there to enjoy and a couple of songs that I think of everytime I think of the best things about Pearl Jam.vedder316 wrote:Spinning this on the record player. Pearl Jam songs can be separated into love, really like, and like for me. There are a small number that I'm ambivalent about, and a really small number of songs I actually don't like. I tend toward critical analysis of this band precisely because I love them so much, and they are so good at what they do. In this regard, even the worst albums in their catalog are well-regarded by me compared to everything else out there.

Yeah, I'm with you. On RM I sometimes rail against certain songs that I don't actually hate as much as I post about hating them. I don't respond to Force of Nature, for example, but I don't actually hate the song. It just doesn't work for me like others do. I don't think there's a single Pearl Jam song that I actually hate.

This is where I stand too. Though, I'm not super critical of music I don't like. I don't listen to it.RockPusher wrote:Pearl Jam songs can be separated into love, really like, and like for me. Listened to this the other day. First time listening since Gigaton dropped. I still really enjoyed it. It's a little long. I think I could make a retracked version that I would love. But Ole would be the opener instead of Getaway, which I really don't think is great.

whats that retracked version Joe? im not sure i would want Ole as an opener. And the call response ...we have that one on MYM, and its a superior song to me.durdencommatyler wrote:Listened to this the other day. First time listening since Gigaton dropped. Maybe Ole could work on the second half?

How did Getaway get the most votes for best song on the album?

Re: Lightning Bolt: the official album thread
I like the energy Getaway brings into MYM. I'd still want that to be track 2. So I was just thinking out loud about possible alternative album openers. Ole is a fucking great song. Not sure it would totally work but worth trying.VinylGuy wrote:whats that retracked version Joe? im not sure i would want Ole as an opener.
