given my options, I would try the cheese over places that seem to think they need to swath a path of ketchup on top of it while cooking
i prefer a few slabs of bacon on top myself.
as much as I love bacon I always eat it by itself when it comes with something, burgers etc..for whatever reason I find bacon to glorious to mix with other things.
that's understandable, but what's happening here is the juices of the bacon drip and cook into the loaf.

oh I know, I'm all about that but when done I eat the bacon before diving into the meatloaf

This is still happening, despite your doubts about it Spike. I will let you know either way how I feel about it.

It's going to be pretty cold here (for the south) this weekend. I can't wait to fire up both crock pots on Sunday and have the whole house smelling delicious.

Crock potted a 6 lb pork butt the other day. Tossed in some Carolina style bbq sauce, and 8 hours later, had some nice pulled pork that will last for awhile.

do you really use fire or do you just plug it in? because i don't really feel the term 'fire up' and all your enthusiasm can apply when you're just turning a dial.

When you say Carolina style, I hope you mean the yellow, mustard-based style.

I like Memphis style too, but if I have to choose, I'll always go with Carolina.

Of course I will. Although the Kalua Pig crock pot recipe I shared here was a big success, so I may not want to tarnish my slow-cooker credibility...
