Everything is so politicized it's hard to tell what's real. It does make sense what Musk said though, that hospitals had incentive to lie about numbers in order to receive stimulus money. He said hospitals admitted this. Many deaths weren't proven to be caused by covid, or maybe they had symptoms that could potentially be covid but they also had other things.. and that when people die they always have covid like symptoms anyway. I don't know where the evidence is. Haven't bothered to look. Does anybody really have evidence though? This is all a simulation. Believe what you want to believe. It's all reality.

The US economy is completely fucked. We can’t keep everything shut down until there’s a vaccine. If this goes on much longer, we’re not going to have a country to come back to.

Do I believe this virus is no worse than the flu or common cold? No.

Do I believe it was worth sacrificing years of economic prosperity for? Also no.

hospitals were lying about corona related deaths
1. not really. its up to the owners. if they say you can work and you do so, a waiver should be signed that states if you get covid you waive any compensation for your troubles
2. agree
3. 20K a month isnt really lower. also dont you think the practice of social distancing and staying away from work might have something to do with it?
4. they are lying about as much about it as the president says there were illegals voting
Your fourth point, peeps, shows how wildly uninformed you are. The numbers have absolutely been skewed, and they haven’t been hiding that from the beginning. The practice of attributing every death of a person with the virus to the virus (even when the person’s underlying conditions may have been the primary contributing factor) is more than a little disingenuous. It’s basically a completely fabricated number. Not to mention the fact that they believe an astronomical amount of people have carried the virus without ever showing any symptoms. The death rates are actually minuscule compared to the scare tactic numbers they have successfully duped you into believing.

And as a side note, California (and probably many other liberal-Mecca states) have all but acknowledged that illegals have voted. Not only that, they are actively trying to pass legislation that allows illegals to vote in American elections.

When you say the death rates may be low because of social distancing practices, you're missing the point. Mortality rates are calculated by looking at how many people had it and how many people died from it. Without testing everybody there's no way of knowing how many people had it, and with all the fudging of the numbers, it gets even more foggy, but it leans toward a way lower mortality rate than initially figured.

The death count, if anything, is being undercounted.

Our business isn’t “essential” enough for it to be open, and he isn’t getting any government assistance, so his hands are tied. He has to provide. This is not an abnormal situation. Millions of families and small businesses are being put in similar or worse situations. And for what? People are working anyway, now they are just financially burdened and forced to work in less than desirable situations, when a perfectly viable and lucrative business/job has been stripped away from them do to no fault of their own.
This is the point I've been trying to make: WHY isn't getting assistance? WHY isn't there a safety net for this situation where y'all live? You're absolutely right that this is happening due to no fault of his own. So WHY is he being punished? For the millionth time: why is the onus on y'all to return to work instead of receiving assistance in a distaster?
He’s not getting assistance because he doesn’t qualify. He doesn’t qualify because his income was too high before the lockdown order. My brother, who is 37, married with four kids, is in the exact same situation. He doesn’t qualify for anything either. So not only has the government forced him into unemployment, he doesn’t qualify to receive unemployment benefits.
Thank you for your response. I am seeing a lot of small business owners/workers in the same predicament, and I understand that they are scared and angry. But I think they are also letting those emotions turn that anger towards the wrong place. In reference to the parts I've bolded, doesn't this seem like a problem if the government not doing ENOUGH, not too much? In a situation like this, your brother receiving benefits based on past income seems wrong, because he's not allowed to work. He's not allowed to work because there is an ongoing public health disaster. I am sympathetic to his plight, but I'm not sympathetic to responses to the problem that ignore reality or put people needlessly in danger.

And this is where we seem to come to a fundamental disagreement. Rather than asking "why are we not being taken care of in a disaster" (which is why I brought up floods, fires, etc.) your response seems to be to deny the virus is a problem, and to cry government overreach. So it seems like you think nothing should have been done. But what if this inaction had led to the death of one your employees? One of your family? Would you not have been angry that no one was looking out and reacting to such a serious problem? I also have to take issue with your position that this is all "the media." I work in schools; schools are all closed to protect children and staff. That's not the media. There are real mass graves in New York City. That's not the media. Do you not think it's irresponsible of you to spread false information?

Only ignorant, selfish, privelaged, fucktards, allow their overlords to strip their liberties and rights because it makes them feel safe and superior. This is moronic behavior to the core.
What civil liberties and rights are being denied you right now?
My right to work in my chosen profession has been stripped for nearly two months.
IIRC, you sold your stake in your business and were unemployed before all this hit, so how did the government take this away from you?
Why are you refusing to answer my question?
I never saw your question. I did sell my stake and I was unemployed. That was many months ago. Since then, I went back to work. I have a new position and minority ownership in a small company. We have a group of employees that want to work. I don’t have a single employee at my company that would like to continue with the mandatory shutdown we remain under. Some of my employees have left our company in order to find “essential” work elsewhere. One of our co-owners travels 4 hours away from his wife and three small kids at home so he can work in the mines in northern Minnesota Monday-Friday. He is only able to be home on the weekends. According to the ideas of people here he is “endangering” his family by working. But he must do so. Did your new business apply for the small business assistance?

It should also be mentioned that the practice of social distancing wasn’t designed to (and never promised to) slow mortality rates. It was designed to spread the effects of the virus over a longer period of time in order to not overwhelm hospitals. The total cases and total death numbers may be very similar to what they would’ve been without the shutdown, they will just happen over a longer period of time.

Well, yeah; it's both. You stop the crunch on hospitals, and in doing so, lower the mortality rate.

The funny thing is, we're all just regurgitating info from our chosen sources of information. Who knows what's real? Nobody.

1) That's the problem! You can carry it asymptomatically and pass it to vulnerable people! This is a mark FOR people taking this seriously, not against it!

2) Do you have a source for this? It's hard to take you seriously when your posts include things like this.

That's fair. Very few people are advocating a shutdown that last more than a couple of months.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

So not only has the government forced him into unemployment, he doesn’t qualify to receive unemployment benefits. With six months to feed three times a day, you can’t go several months without an opportunity to make a living and just be ok with the situation. In my brother’s situation, he’s been traveling to South Dakota on a weekly basis and conducting business from there because they didn’t do a lockdown (and the population is so happy there that they are throwing a parade for their governor because she didn’t succumb to pressure to shut the state down).
Your brother should still qualify for unemployment even if he didn't qualify for the stimulus payout.

It was also designed to keep vulnerable populations away from the virus, so that they AREN'T exposed. The idea that everyone is going to get it and that's just life is very, very bad. Many people will die thinking this way.
