It's like both of those songs put together.durdencommatyler wrote:I don't know that I think the songs are all that close. Sad is a much better comp to SBWM.stip wrote:It is probably the song it is closest to in the catalog, I think. I do like the MYM solo better. Both are great songs with great performances from Eddie, but SBWM has better lyrics and the band feels a bit more locked in.

I was thinking a lot about the lyrics. It kinda reminds me of the character of Do The Evolution.

the biggest thing setting this song back for me is that the meaning of the lyrics is kind of evading me

yeah I do like the psychotic ramble tone of it; it's very disoriented / dissocosiativeVinylGuy wrote:Yeah, im not sure what means, but i see it as the same of character that sang Do The Evolution.Ms Harmless wrote:the biggest thing setting this song back for me is that the meaning of the lyrics is kind of evading me

I still like my theory that this song is written from the POV of the same character as Never Destination; I feel like he would write "thank you Bob Honey"

What song do you have in mind for a loose vibe then?tragabigzanda wrote:Hard disagree. It feels like a song about regret - regretting losing somebody (maybe the same person Comes Then Goes is about?), regretting lost time, regretting lost battles...?Ms Harmless wrote:the biggest thing setting this song back for me is that the meaning of the lyrics is kind of evading me
...And then trying to caution a younger person to stay focused on what's important and not to get derailed by bullshit.

Next box set have them remaster everything after yield and re-record drums with Jack! I love me some Binaural and Riot Act but damn I wish Jack had been apart of those. I think Matt's an excellent drummer, a great songwriter and seems like a super dude, but his style is forever an awkward fit for Pearl Jam.Noaheb wrote:Next box set have them remaster everything after yield and re-record drums with Jack! When I went on sabbatical from Pearl Jam fandom (1998-2004 or so), it was so jarring when I began hearing Matt playing those songs. It took me a good few years before I could even get my head around how different the songs felt, and at this point I think I probably worked too hard to find a way into enjoying the band again.
