I mean, it's the result of almost twenty years of post 9/11 messaging where dissent from the new projects of capital accumulation is equated with national infidelity.Strat wrote:Why the fuck is this an "i love america and you dont" thing?

As someone from Florida who has lived all over the country I'm resistant to the Florida-man discourse, there's just as many crazies in Arkansas and Nevada and New York, but...
While I'm not opposed to any of these protest cretins shuffling off the ol' mortal coil, my aging parents live in Clearwater so I really, truly hope these people fucking eat it sooner rather than later!

Saw that this morning, it only has to do with the virus insofar as everyone is at home. Apparently the shirtless dude said something about wanting to rape a woman and tallboy wasn't having it.tragabigzanda wrote:no idea what this is about, but it's trending so I'm assuming it's about the virus or freedom or something

Isn't this protest kinda counter-productive? They've just shown that squats and push-ups can be done...…..anywhereMickey wrote:As someone from Florida who has lived all over the country I'm resistant to the Florida-man discourse, there's just as many crazies in Arkansas and Nevada and New York, but...

Only 33 deaths in MA today. Time to find a rocket launcher. I need a teriyaki chicken. Large. Toasted.

Every time I see any US-based stats on this, it just blows my mind.Self wrote:Only 33 deaths in MA today.
For the sake of comparison, my state (South Australia) has a population roughly equivalent to that of Nebraska. Nebraska alone has had more COVID-19 deaths (100) than our entire country (97, at last count).

I know. And that's a very low number for us. It's been over a hundred a day for almost a month.Birds in Hell wrote:Every time I see any US-based stats on this, it just blows my mind.Self wrote:Only 33 deaths in MA today.

Re: Anybody want a Corona?
Somewhat surprisingly our governor is keeping these closed through May 31st now. He had already said a ban on live entertainment would not be lifted yet. He did increase restaurant capacity though.Biff Pocoroba wrote:No, things like bars, nightclubs, and amusement parks are still closed along with swimming pools. They can all reopen in two weeks (with guidelines like capacity restrictions, social distancing) on the 13th unless Kemp backtracks.verb_to_trust wrote:I thought Kemp already had everything open?Biff Pocoroba wrote:Our governor said today he expects to give the okay for everything to re-open on May 13th.
I'm as ready as anyone for a bar drink but it's too soon.
- Spoiler: show
Since Kemp started opening up Georgia at the end of April our numbers have not varied much. We have more access to testing now but the numbers of confirmed cases have stayed steady and hospitalizations have actually decreased in the past couple weeks. But we are just now getting into the time where the numbers can be expected to increase since restrictions have been loosened.
