Pearl Jam sans Eddie Vedder
I know this will get eclipsed by the LB leak, but I was thinking about this the other day.
I'm not really a fan of bands holding onto a name after the lead singer leaves/dies (STP, Van Halen, AIC). I realize there's debate there, and I don't want to get into that, but what if Pearl Jam did this. We can assume Eddie quit so that we need not imagine his tragic death which would surely involve moving his backyard benches too close to the axe throwing target.
Who would make the best/worst replacement for Ed? Or who would you like to see replace him?

Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

I thought the first post would be him or Mark Lanegan. I wasn't sure if we'd go joke or serious.

This is like asking who would The Stones get to replace Jagger or Plant's replacement in Zeppelin, etc, etc.
Some lead singers this question just does not apply. I don't care for U2 but who would replace Bono in U2? See it just doesn't compute.

It would be a better band but it wouldn't be Pearl Jam.

Re: Pearl Jam sans Eddie Vedder
Mark Lanegan is way too cool to front Pearl Jam. Pearl Jam are pretty solidly in Dad-Rock territory these days - but that may change if Eddie left.I thought the first post would be him or Mark Lanegan.
If Ed left I'd like to see them just stick with the 4 remaining members - Stone and Matt could sing on any new albums and live they could just have the Audience sing.

They would just go their seperate ways. I think the only reason they get together at all at this point is to have Eddie sing on their songs. They barely even guest on each other's albums, I think that says it all.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

If this happened, Matt should just stick to Soundgarden full time... Then the others can bring Jack back and become a 4-piece... Let Stone sing

Lies. So hath Brenden O'Brien said it, so it shall be taken as truth. None of these guys is worth shit except Eddie, unless we're talking about younger Eddie he was a shithead too, never listened and was mean to Brenden.liebzz wrote:Mirrorballstupidmop wrote:Don't you know these guys could never make a decent album without eddie vedder.

Kick Mike out too. I'd love a Jack/Stone/Jeff three piece.Tass Man wrote:If this happened, Matt should just stick to Soundgarden full time... Then the others can bring Jack back and become a 4-piece... Let Stone sing

i was about to post mark lanegan, and then I realized he wouldn't really do a great job singing the kinds of songs pearl jam writes.B wrote:I thought the first post would be him or Mark Lanegan. I wasn't sure if we'd go joke or serious.
This is gonna sound crazy, but what about Tim Booth?
