It’s in the universal declaration of human rights? And probably the entire premise of our women’s and children’s shelter services? And also wtf?

Quite often people have irrational fears. Are we supposed to save people from their irrational fears? If not, who decides what's rational?

We absolutely should save people from becoming victims of OTHER people’s reactions to their OWN fears.

If you want to take part in a premature reopening, I don’t think you should be denied that. If a person thinks it’s acceptable to force other people to join them under threat of being denied government assistance during a pandemic, then to hell with that person. They are their parents’ great failure.

One thing I don’t get: with federal guidance and local organization, we could very easily have comprehensive lists of those workers who are determined to return to work in every community in the country inside of two weeks, along with skill set identifiers and work histories. We could then use that 15% of the workforce to strategically reopen key locations and services, and reduce the degree to which our economy is shut down...without putting anyone in a vice. We could even incentivize and glorify them for their work. Recognize their heroism. Patriots and legends.

Advocates for reopening never seem to talk about this option.

If now is premature, please detail what the right time to reopen is looks like.

What I think many people find frustrating is the ever changing metrics. It seems to have gone from 'lets flatten the curve to as not overwhelm our medical capacity' to 'no one should be at risk of contracting Covid-19'. That's a huge change.

Very little testing is done other than to those presenting symptoms and healthcare/first responders. Trying to get best use from the still limited testing capacity. We've done quite well other than with old age homes. Plans since put in place seem to be addressing that risk quite nicely so far. We start to open up this weekend. The plan lacks consistency and or any kind of scientific support but I think any measured approach with tracing will be fairly successful.

Standing here in line at the seafood truck waiting for my order. It’s in the lot of one of the microbreweries/bars here in town. I’m one of 31 people out here on the patio of this place. There are also 4 people working in the truck. I’m the only one with a mask on.
