That video was god awful, yuck! Thank goodness the album is stellar (and this song is at least ok to pretty good), otherwise that would just be embarrassing.

it seems like some kind of watercolour / coloured pencil phone filter; it looks a little cheaper than I'd like but also kinda appropriate for all that
Reminds me of that film Being Vincent, about Vincent Van Gogh. Every frame was hand painted over several years. Had a similar look and feel.

for me, it's not the animation style itself i don't like... i think it's fine, and kinda interesting. maybe a little too muddy. it's really animated, but at the same time a little too realistic. maybe should have been a bit more hand drawn (instead of photoshop filtered).

aside from that, it just feels out of scope in terms of the art direction of the album. it's the same gripe i have for the SBWM video. neither video fits within the visual vision of the rest of the album. both seem to kind of cheapen the message. such beautiful photography. a beautiful album package. then suddenly: video + PBS color pastel filter.

It reminded me of the hyper realistic animation used in the Polar Express. I don't think that worked and I don't think the animation in this video works either.

Generally speaking someone has to hit 500 on their post count before they learn to use the quote function properly.

You’re getting there. I’m rooting for you.

just rewatched cause when I watched last night I was drunk and I thought no way the card animation could be as bad as I remember it...but....yeah it was. classic NES games look better than this.
