Re: Anybody want a Corona?
That's exactly what happened here (Province of Québec, Canada) but now our Public Health guy and our premier are pathetically backpedaling, pretending they were discouraging people from wearing masks because they had to keep them for the health workers although, as far as I know, explaining the difference between N95s (exclusive to the health workers) and ordinairy masks, homemade ones and so forth could have saved lives. It is out of control in Montréal's elederly homes, a total fuck-up. It's been a week now since we are strongly encouraged to wear face-covering masks. A total about-face. I'm pissed-off.theplatypus wrote:From what I read, it sounds like they're worried that the masks will provide people with a false sense of security that will keep them from taking other more important precautions (social distancing, washing hands, etc), rendering any potential benefits completely moot. I am so happy that in B.C. we have a great Provincial Health Officer who never took directives from Tam. She and Trudeau are responsible for much of the mess in Canada. Playing politics when they should have stuck to adhering to science.mastaflatch wrote:That's exactly what happened here (Province of Québec, Canada) but now our Public Health guy and our premier are pathetically backpedaling, pretending they were discouraging people from wearing masks because they had to keep them for the health workers although, as far as I know, explaining the difference between N95s (exclusive to the health workers) and ordinairy masks, homemade ones and so forth could have saved lives. Re: Anybody want a Corona?
i really wish they would just come out and say: 'outdoor parties are OK'
or like 'you can bbq with neighbors and it will be fine just dont let them sneeze in your face and no makeout sessions'
let's just try to find one normal thing that's OK to do that's still fun and not weird
what about opioids?
can we still do those?
whatever happened to that epidemic?
got bumped from page 1 by the pandemic?
who wins in the octagon? epidemic or pandemic?
anyone see pan's labyrinth? that movie was dope

The clear lie that the federal government had instituted health checkpoints on incoming travellers. Seemingly because they prized bringing people into the country than protecting its citizens.
That blatant flip-flop on masks and the horrendous reasoning.
Their absolute inability to direct any kind of bad word or even concern with regards to China’s actions and lack of transparency and truthfulness. Same for WHO. Almost entirely driven for Trudeau’s deep seated desire to have a temporary two year seat on the UN Security Council.
Tying federal Covid relief dollars for companies to climate change action.
The attempt at a power grab packed in the first Covid related legislation.
The absolute lack of concern for Canada’s financial situation with not having a single care and telling federal employees who job it is to check for fraud to explicitly not do their job.
The government’s seeming fear of meeting and being held to account.
The delaying of tabling a budget
On the west coast we have much more faith in our Provincial Health Minister than the Federal Health Minister, Dr Tam.
The view from B.C. is that even that hated Doug Ford is doing a much better job than Trudeau.
Trudeau and Tam have not been nightmares. I don’t think Tam has been any help but she may be doing things behind the scenes that she cannot communicate adequately. Trudeau’s government has done some good things and caved on other stances for purely political reasons.
CERB benefit is great But the directive to not care about fraud is just Trudeau’s fear of being seen as the bad guy.
Salary relief for small to medium businesses is great. Then opening it and small business loans to contractors, like myself who pay very little personal income tax by leaving their money in their business was wrong. I personally benefitted from that decision but it was made from a fear of being seen as the bad guy. Incorporated individuals all get preferential tax treatment up front and know all the risks associated with incorporating. For the federal government to then treat us like salaried employees is just a government afraid to say no to anyone.
Trudeau is great at having a seemingly real concern for people. But his penchant for politicizing things comes at Canada’s expense.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

Also regular people with masks, often touch and adjust their masks.doone wrote:I can see it. I work in our hospital's renal department where we wear PPE all shift. We don't social distance at all. If we were wearing homemade masks it would be the same I bet.
I don’t know, but the corona-numbers in Norway and Denmark are about as good as they possibly could be.

Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?
