When I first started paying attention to sports in early '80s one of my favorites was the NFL Today. It was a much simpler and straight forward show the silliness it has morphed into since. You had Brent Musberger & Irv Cross talk bringing you the stories of the day and Jimmy the Greek to talk picks and upsets. There was also woman there who usually brought you a human interest story that I could usually care less about. That woman was one time Miss America Phyllis George and was among the first women in network sports coverage.
She passed today at age 70 of a blood disease.

I thought to myself, Kentucky has always been on the map.

Her interview with Maron was terrific. His mourning in the beginning felt very honest, but also sort of gratuitous.

I just find it weird that she's not been dead for three days and he's already sharing about it on-air. She leaves behind a husband (estranged? separated? who knows), and a kid. I guess I'm worried they might be uncomfortable with her recent boyfriend sharing some intimate details of their final moments together.

oh, yeah i get that. I was surprised he was up to it too.

Jimmy's is sound. A rare low frills place in midtown that isn't also a dump.

Never been in the Lambs Club. Walked past it a million times. Just looked at the pictures and strikes me like the kind of place a salesperson takes you for their pitch and then you just want to eat the food in peace but can't cause they are buying and then you leave wishing you had just stayed home and eaten a meal harassment free cause it wasn't really that special and now this guy is gonna be up your ass forever
