NC's about to go through the roof. Almost 600 workers at a Tyson chicken plant tested positive.

Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Let’s Remember That the Coronavirus Is Still a Mystery
The odd thing about reporting on the coronavirus is that the nonexperts are supremely confident in their predictions, while epidemiologists keep telling me that they don’t really know much at all.

There sure have been a lot of out-of-nowhere amateur epidemiologists on Twitter all of a sudden.

I don't believe taking the red pill would lead you to MAGA. Quite the contrary, I think Verb might have fallen off a cliff on the opposite end.

Thank you. It's vaccine or herd immunity (by letting it run its course while protecting the most vulnerable). I'm not aware of a third option.

Chlorinique. Chlorinnique. Chlorox-iq. You know, that stuff. I heard it works from top men. TOP. MEN.

The vaccine is hopeful at best. There has never been one for a Corona virus but now all of the sudden we are going to get one by Nov 3 or whatever? Gtfoh. All the promising developments in the news are just pump and dump stock market bullshit. The only thing that could change anything is a working therapeutic that keeps people from dying on vents. That's it. Even "herd immunity" is a pipe dream given some of the testing results coming out of Europe. Nobody is anywhere close to "herd immunity". So is the plan just to absorb incredible amounts more death and destruction to get there? Not a viable path.

Fuck all this shit

Sincere question for you (and others) - what does "herd immunity while protecting the vulnerable" mean? It is clear to me how a vaccine solves this. I also believe (hope) that a therapeutic might come online at some point and provide much needed relief. But I still don't understand the herd immunity argument. It seems to suggest that the vulnerable crowd endure a lockdown state indefinitely (a year or two longer) so the rest of us can continue on. Maybe that is the best of a bunch of bad options, but is that how we're supposed to see it? It's actually a shitload of people, including a group called "grandparents." So I'm not sure this is an acceptable path in real life.

The number of "vulnerable" which presumably would include individuals above a certain age along with those individuals suffering from the kinds of underlying health issues that seem to most often lead to more dire outcomes, is a gargantuan number. I can't imagine the sum total of people over 65, for example, and people with hypertension, which seems to be one of the most common health issues showing up in critical patients.

And also anyway be who lives with one of those individuals.

According to the failing NYT, our county/city it the fourth fastest growth in the nation. We’re doubling every 11 days. Good thing the whole state removes all restrictions tomorrow.
