Now I came back for 2 more listens, and it's like a hammer hit me over the head, cause I can't believe this is what I listened to earlier. These songs are good, possibly very good.
This SWALLOWED HOLE is doing something to me......that I definately didn't anticipate. All 4 are good. Could FUTURE DAYS end up being listenable????!!?
Swallowed Hole is my favorite of the bunch. There's a few seconds of perfection in there and it's amazing. I wish they could have expanded on that little bit around the 2:05 mark.
LB was my favorite earlier but this feels like such a weak vocal take. It doesn't soar like the live version. Hopefully a proper rip will do it justice.

Now I think my "best album since Riot Act" is a real possibility.

I'm glad I didn't listen much to either of the Wrigley performances. I think that set me up to enjoy studio Lightning Bolt more than I would have otherwise, having heard it lots of times and convinced myself it couldn't be good. Fingers crossed that Future Days plays similarly to my ears.

Not sure if you mean me, but I'll answer anyway. Yes, the songs I was worried about have been proven good to great. I'm still waiting on SBM and FD, but I basically know those songs, so I'm not sure if much can go wrong.

Hey harmless, any chance you could say a little about the drums on these tracks? I'd be interested to know if they're any good. (Unless you already have and it's somewhere back in the last heap of pages, could you lead me to an approx page number). Cheers.

I haven't seen anything. They might be deleting stuff.
I love that sound in Lightning Bolt that kind of runs under the verses...not sure if it's a guitar or keys or what. Do you guys know what I'm talking about? Fuck I ain't making sense.

Yeah, it hasn't completely won me over yet, but there are pieces of it that really do it for me.
I still think it kills whatever mood/feel its nurturing when they do that "new Pearl Jam" "now we have to go big!!!" Thing.
In general, I'd agree with you, but I think it's the "go big" moments that are working for me in this one. Probably because it distracts from the lyrics.

Yup I totally see that. I'm happy it doesn't kill the song for me. I'm just anxious to get to those lovely little parts of the song. Hopefully I'll find something in the rest of the song that keeps it engaging.
