Our county went more than two weeks without any new cases before phase 1 reopening started two weeks ago. In the last five days we’ve had 10 new cases, a 20% rise. Let’s not start sucking each other’s dicks just yet gentlemen.

I feel bad for Cooper. He's doing a great job but NC is ultimately going to go back to being a Red state and all the rural dumbfucks are villainizing him for freedoms getting taken away during COVID.B wrote:This is how the Lt. Gov in our state is playing it.

Oh, I agree. The new cases in Aus absolutely concern me too. I've noticed. Corona don't care.Superblood Wolfmoon wrote:Our county went more than two weeks without any new cases before phase 1 reopening started two weeks ago. I'm just saying, the US way of playing politics always surprises me. In fairness, I'm currently reading "A Very Stable Genius" so I'm a bit triggered to this sort of stuff.

Re: Anybody want a Corona?
Interesting take from the Premier of Alberta.
“In Canada, 95 per cent of fatalities from COVID are from those over the age of 60, 80 per cent are in care facilities, and the risk of death from COVID for people under 65 is 0.006 per cent.
“What we are learning is that younger people, although not completely immune, have a rate of mortality related to COVID that is no higher than their general mortality rate from other illnesses.
“For most Albertans, the risk of death from other pathogens, accidents and traffic fatalities is actually higher than it is for COVID.”

Bars and nightclubs can open here on June 1 but live entertainment and amusement parks will remain closed through June 12.
Kemp also acknowledged a jump in cases over the weekend, explaining it as a release of backlogged cases from one particular testing company and that otherwise the counts have been steady. Believe that what you will.

Check this out....
The 15 countries above are the 15 most populous countries in the world, in order.
Look at the total #of corona cases in each country.
This kind of puts it in perspective how shit-ass a job the United States is doing in comparison. Somebody show this to Trump so that he can declare it as "fake news" and people will believe him.

Re: Anybody want a Corona?
I do feel there is a case to be made that positive test numbers aren't that relevant. I doubt the USA has 1/4-1/3 of all cases. But that death count... man. That's a big fail. It's not as bad as it seems when matched with western Euro countries like UK, Italy or France, but it's still f'n awful. And I bet 'murica is most likely for a 2nd killer wave. Mindsets are cruising back to normal.

Sweden still needs 10 times the amount of exposure to reach herd immunity. Extrapolating from current deaths totals vs. population, a similar strategy in the US could be expected to kill 1.3 million people. Great work Sweden!

Here's the top countries in order of deaths per capita.
(Those smallish countries are annoying)

Re: Anybody want a Corona?
None of the seroprevalency numbers I've seen come out have given any credence at all to a herd immunity strategy. Nobody has this. It would just be a wave of death for nothing.Mickey wrote:Sweden still needs 10 times the amount of exposure to reach herd immunity.
