Why, from a strategic (or, okay, pandering) perspective does Biden need to pick a black woman, given that black voters tend to turn out for the white establishment Democrat? As I said above, I think he does have to pick a woman now that he's promised it (and probably always had to), and I think it would be symbolically important to have a black woman as VP, but I don't hear the strategic argument. Is Stacey Abrams going to deliver him Georgia? Is snubbing Kamala going to lose him California? He's going to lose more black votes through systemic disenfranchisement than he'll pick up through appeasing a Twitter-centric desire for representation (which is not wrong, it's just not as monolithic as being online might make it seem).

Picking a black woman would be a strong move considering how many white women call the police because a black man BBQs in the park. Or are threatened with police action because they ask a white woman to put her dog in a leash in Central Park.

Black women are in the uncomfortable position of having to raise their sons to watch their backs. It’s the loudest sound I have in my ears currently.

The strongest argument against Warren is that losing the MA seat dooms Dem senate hopes. Not really sure how to get around that, given how tight the senate will be.

The Dems in the MA legislature have a veto proof majority and could pass a law the day Biden announces her as VP that would require the governor to appoint a replacement from the same party as the outgoing Senator.
