Interesting that you call it pandering. Go further on that, please.
I’m not going further on that. I’m not the one running for office and I’m not out canvassing for support for a politician.
Oh, okay. I just thought since you were the one that said it, you might, you know, have a thought or two about it.
What's there to think about? You don't think mandating a woman is pandering to voters? It can be pandering and also the right thing to do by the way.
Tell me why the word "pandering" is the best word choice.
Because Joe feels it's the best way to obtain the power he desires? Do you think politicians are just genuine people Joey?

What other word is there to use? He's targeting a group of voters his team has decided would be very pleased with him so long as he picks a woman VP.

Historically, we talk about VP picks in terms of which of the candidate’s weaknesses the choice will address, or how this new addition’s politics will influence or be influenced by joining the team. A quick search suggests that even when Trump picked Pence, we didn’t use the word “pandering” to describe the overt courting of the religious vote.

Pandering that increases your vote tally is probably a good idea. I think that’s what verb is saying?

The polling suggests Warren is the best choice. I posted something 2 pages ago. She boosts his chances more than the other (8?) top contenders.

Personally, and I’ve said this before, maybe he should pick a Hispanic woman. As McP stated, the VP should address weaknesses, and Biden isn’t that weak with white & black people. He’s weak with Hispanics and young people. Given that Hispanics are the youngest minority group on average, you’d potentially be addressing two big weaknesses.

Yeah that's exactly why I've been trying to drive at with the black woman thing--not that it wouldn't be great, but that the options on the table don't change the map very much.

I think pandering is technically the correct word for what is definitely a calculated political choice. I also think, as McP noted, that the way it was originally used here carried the implication that there's pandering on one hand (with Abrams or Kamala) and then there are other choices, which smacks of a certain bias.

Is there any chance of Biden/Michelle Obama?
I think that would be a winner.
