That's probably 3 out of my top 5 for sure. Black and Corduroy are pretty much unquestionably my two favorite Pearl Jam songs.Release_Me wrote: Overall, Black is their best song. Corduroy and RVM fight for the number 2 song slot and I'm not sure I could ever pick one.

I have the feeling that this will be the first song they play when touring resumes. Or Release. Either will be magical.stip wrote:elderly woman will be played at every show once that tour happens just for the ‘i just want to scream hello...’ verse

Pissed off and angry about a lot of things today, and finding that Vs. is a great album to listen to when in that frame of mind. It's nearly soothing.

And it all winds down with Indifference. It's a rocking album, with it's own mood. Probably one of their finest sounding album !RAG319 wrote:Pissed off and angry about a lot of things today, and finding that Vs. is a great album to listen to when in that frame of mind. It's nearly soothing.

Dissident is like glue that binds Faithful, In Hiding, I am Mine, Force of Nature, and Amongst The Waves to Alive .Monkey_Driven wrote:Yeah, Stip's onto something here...tragabigzanda wrote:Hey that’s a good insightstip wrote:It is weird that in many ways Dissident feels like the template for generic Pearl Jam even though there are barely any Pearl Jam songs that sound like it

I can see this point of view, but Dissident also has a ragged edge to it -- in recent years, they tend to polish those songs up a little more, probably to their detriment.Monkey_Driven wrote:Yeah, Stip's onto something here...tragabigzanda wrote:Hey that’s a good insightstip wrote:It is weird that in many ways Dissident feels like the template for generic Pearl Jam even though there are barely any Pearl Jam songs that sound like it

And yet Dissident feels like a polished product as compared to the remainder of Vs.guitar_davey wrote:I can see this point of view, but Dissident also has a ragged edge to it -- in recent years, they tend to polish those songs up a little more, probably to their detriment.Monkey_Driven wrote:Yeah, Stip's onto something here...tragabigzanda wrote:Hey that’s a good insightstip wrote:It is weird that in many ways Dissident feels like the template for generic Pearl Jam even though there are barely any Pearl Jam songs that sound like it

Dissident is so weirdly underrated on RM; it's very nicely composed and performed

it was actually hearing those guitar licks again that inspired my posttragabigzanda wrote:some of Stone's best guitar work ever put to tape. The rest of it is solid enough, but that's what sticks out to me.

Mine, too. I've always loved it. It still stacks up with the best tracks on the album even if it's no longer my personal favorite. Re: Vs: Official Album thread
Re-listening to this song and do I ever miss Dave A. That and Mike's guitar is straight out of Green Day, playing the melody over and over.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.
